- Select Point Person to seize the initiative and get the ball rolling
(this person may or may not become the president of the N/W)
- Point Person contacts Northeast Precinct Neighborhood Watch Coordinator with number of homes in neighborhood, and streets forming neighborhood boundaries (Mike Hoffman 373-3883 Tue-Thurs 9:30-3:30)
- Precinct Coordinator provides brochure(s) to help recruit new households
- Point Person distributes brochures and determines if at least 15 neighbors are willing to meet for 2 training meetings (about 1 hour each) and periodically after (2-4 times/yr.)
- Secure a location, date and time for the 2 training meetings
- Contact Precinct Coordinator to schedule Police Training Officer (please provide 10-14 day lead time)
- Distribute invitations to every home or apartment in N/W area (5-7 days in advance is best)
- FIRST MEETING
- Now that your neighbors have an understanding of the program, recruit block captains and other officers, as needed
- Block Capt. Responsibilities
- Assist in communication between the citizens on your block and the Precinct
- Recruit immediate neighbors to take part in neighborhood watch
- SECOND MEETING
- Congratulations! You are now a recognized N/W group. Signs are ordered, and your president will attend the quarterly NE Precinct N/W presidents meeting; he/she will then distribute the crime statistics to you through the Block Captains
- Occasionally (2-4 times a year) have neighborhood gatherings to make friends and renew your commitment to watch out for one another and HAVE FUN while FIGHTING CRIME!!
